Wine is the “common thread” of my life. As a cook, I appreciated it as an accompaniment to food from the very beginning. An unforgettable Château Palmer 1970 made it click. First, I applied my love of wine as a restaurateur. Then as a buyer at Mövenpick. As editor of WeinWisser, at the Académie du Vin, with my wine books, on trips, at events and as an auctioneer. Today I am retired. I write less and have more time to enjoy myself.

Private Patron (Expert)

In my profession as a numismatist, I find the subject of wine a fulfilling addition and my passion for it probably lies in the roots of my ancestors.
In the middle of the 18th century, my great-great-grandfather co-founded one of the largest wine merchants in Europe.
Today, I enjoy organizing numerous wine tastings and am involved as a partner in both the “Weinbörse” auction business and the “Gerstl Weinselektionen” wine trade.
I am also involved in numerous other projects related to the fascination of wine.

Wine and food have been my biggest hobby for over 40 years and it’s a good complement to my job as a computer scientist. Since 1989 I have participated in many major tastings and was at the Primeur tastings in Bordeaux from 1996 to 2021. Since 2010, I have been a regular wine journalist for the Schweizerische Weinzeitung and bxtotal.com.
